Last month, we recommended to all clients that they not update iPhones or iPads to iOS 8 until we felt that Apple had released a more stable version of the operating system.
We are now officially giving you the go-ahead! You may update your devices to iOS 8.1.1.
If you’ve already updated your device to iOS 8, or if you’ve recently purchased the new iPhone 6 (or the larger variant, the 6+), we ask that you check your device to confirm that you’re running iOS 8.1.1. You can find the version of iOS your device is running by going into the Settings app, tapping General, then tapping About. Halfway down the screen you’ll see what version of iOS is running on your iPhone or iPad.
To update to iOS 8.1.1, go into the Settings app, tap General, then tap Software Update. iOS 8.1.1 will run on all iPhones as far back as the 4S and newer, and on all iPads as far back as the iPad 2 and the original iPad Mini. We do strongly recommend backing up your iPhone or iPad before applying the update.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the update process, please do not hesitate to contact us via our support request email address firstname.lastname@example.org.
